Scattergood Generating Station Repowering Project
Project Summary
Client: Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP)
Scope: 830 MW modernization, combined-cycle and simple-cycle turbines, 55-acre coastal facility
During this large-scale infrastructure upgrade, I supported the design, configuration, and deployment of the IT network for one of Los Angeles’ most critical power generation sites. The Scattergood Repowering Project replaced outdated steam units with a highly efficient combined-cycle system, requiring a secure and responsive technology environment to support operations.
My responsibilities included building out a reliable network using ISP uplinks, routers, Layer 3 switches, servers, and wireless access points. I also handled the deployment and configuration of workstation hardware to ensure day-to-day productivity across the site. Support was delivered through a combination of remote management and regular on-site visits to the Playa Del Rey facility, where I maintained system performance and resolved infrastructure issues directly.
This project gave me real-world experience supporting high-security, high-uptime environments and contributing to the seamless modernization of a major utility installation for the city of Los Angeles.
